Role Objectives

To plan infrastructure needs and ensure they are met either directly or through partners. Infrastructure includes networks, communications, servers and data centres, email, information security(rg; firewalls), printing, and disaster recovery.


Role Responsibilities

· Assess developments and plans in the organization's business and assess impact on infrastructure needs

· Keep up to date with emerging trends infrastructure technology and management and assess potential for leveraging new developments in improving the organization's business

· Develop and maintain infrastructure capacity plans and ensure they remain aligned to the organization's business plans

· Take the lead in evaluating, selecting and purchasing infrastructure hardware and software, including the development of a business case

· Monitors the installation, configuration and support of infrastructure assets.

· Establishes and documents, together with standards manager and technology architect, standards related to the management of infrastructure

· Continually monitor performance of the network and recommend improvement measures to enhance performance and/or mitigate occurrence of defects

· Take the lead in infrastructure projects, as project leader or project sponsor

· Documents and tracks the location and licenses related to infrastructure assets

Skills

Essential

· A degree in computer science

· 4 years of experience working in IT infrastructure management positions

· Strong analytical and planning skills

· Fair commercial and business awareness to ensure technical decisions are always judged in terms of business benefits


Desirable

· Project management experience
